YouTube is the second largest search engine in the world. Also, over 85 percent of the US population has watched a video from YouTube, according to Gerry Moran. It comes as no surprise that marketing efforts on YouTube can be rather successful.

Merging social media and SEO relevance in one, YouTube remains a focal tool for blogs, businesses, and brands of all shapes and sizes.  Hitting on all of these points requires a disciplined approach. Moran has identified a number of important features that can lead to a great YouTube video; here are some of the highlights:

  • Aim for a catchy, natural title containing three to five keywords. Moran recommends placing the word “video” at the end of the title, since people looking for videos will naturally include this word.
  • Speaking of keywords, use approximately six of them in the “Tags” section. This can increase the chances of being found in a YouTube search.
  • The description is an important part of the video. Include plenty of keywords in the 250- to 1000-word description, Moran advises.  Add the business URL, name of the business, and links to social media.
  • Make sure that privacy settings are on “public” so that everyone can see and comment on the video.

These and other fundamental characteristics of a YouTube video can have an effect on its viral appeal, as well as SEO considerations. Take advantage of YouTube with these and other tips to get your videos noticed!
